Exit Velocity

The exit velocity competition will be a fundraiser for the following high school baseball and softball programs in memory of a special person.

Competition Rules

In Honor and Memory

Carter Chu

Donations will be made to Elkin High School's baseball and softball programs in memory of Carter Chu.

Todd Welborn

Donations will be made to East Wilkes baseball and softball programs in memory of Todd Welborn and will go towards the Todd and Tony Welborn sports complex supporting East Wilkes athletics.

Norah Smitherman

Donations will be made to the Live Like Norah Foundation from Forbush High School's baseball and softball programs in memory of Norah Smitherman.

Bill Parker

Donations will be made to Starmount High School's baseball and softball programs in memory of former Head Baseball Coach Bill Parker.

Charles Wooten

Donations will be made to North Wilkes High School's baseball and softball programs in honor of former Head Baseball Coach Charles Wooten.

Rules for the Exit Velocity Competition

All balls will be hit off of a batting tee placed near home plate.
Cost is $20 to enter the competition and support a local high school in memory of a special person selected by the program.
Boys will hit baseballs with a baseball game bat.
Girls will hit 12" softballs with a softball game bat.
Men will hit baseballs with a baseball bat. High school age and up will use -3 BBCOR (If you don't have a bat we have some you can use)
Women will hit 12" softballs with a softball bat.
Each player will only get 10 swings (If you foul the ball off or mishit the ball that still counts as a swing)
Players can buy back in for another 10 swings for $20 or another 5 swings for $10
You will be grouped by age for the contest.
- Example (10 yr old boys, 11 year old girls, Older ages will be grouped, 26-30, 30-40, 40-50, age 50+ will be in a category. (Note: you must be able to hit the ball a minimum of 30 mph for the radar to register it. The radar will register the fastest object moving whether that be the ball or your bat.
